We have been learning about 3D objects in class. We started by discussing 2D shapes, looking at some examples on the board and naming all of the shapes that we knew. We then discussed the 3 dimensions that 3D objects have, and spoke about how dimension is an interesting word. In a later lesson, we listed the 3 dimensions on the board and went on to look at some examples of 3 dimensional objects. We also played this game, where you have to press on different 3D objects and name the highlighted object that is buried on the board. We had remember to call the 'cuboid' a rectangular prism before pressing it.
We began the next few lessons by revising our knowledge of 3D objects by playing this game and then we went on to make our very own 3D objects. It was hard work cutting the objects out and sticking them together without breaking them. Even Mr. Hewes had trouble, and he's super coordinated!
After we had finished making our objects, we painted them and Mr. Hewes brought in a a mat with roads on it. The objects became buildings in our 3D object city that we used for playing at class play time. We have kept them in the room so we can use them later, and now we know heaps about 3D objects!
